Sex On The Beach / cd|21

August 24, 2007 - Leave a Response

Summer is almost over but luckily we had a last taste of it here in England. In the last days of August the weather was pretty good here in Lancaster and as far as I am concerned in Greece where I come from there was a heat wave. So, still in summer mood I hope! I know I am even though I haven’t seen a beach for weeks now… Now listen to me! You people on islands, near sandy beaches run to the sea, party at a beach bars, have some beers, gins, cocktails, buy some for the beauty shitting on the other side of the bar and who knows maybe the beauty might want to enjoy your company on the beach… 😉

This a compilation with summer songs mostly from the decade that I was a teenager. The 90s! Get excited! It’s ok…

Timeful / cd|19|20

There are songs like tequila and songs like long drinks. The first are sort and fast while the later take time to give you what they want. Long lasting songs put you in a mood and then play with it. They tend to have a variety of rhythms and sessions within them. For instance Lady Fantasy from Camel takes you from a dizzy intro to a melodic journey and then gives you this progressive funky sounds and after that back to melody again. Other songs give you tension, other atmosphere, other both.

All songs are above 7 minutes long and because it’s impossible to fit them in one CD I used two. So, big breath and here we go! This is going to take a while…

01. CITY | Am Fenster
02. Deep Purple | Child In Time
03. Pink Floyd | High Hopes
04. Camel | Lady Fantasy – Encounter – Smiles For You – Lady …
05. Sisters of Mercy | Temple of Love
06. Led Zeppelin | Kashmir
07. The Doors | The End

[Running Time 01:17:19]

01. Creedence Clearwater Revival | Susie Q
02. Nina Simone | Sinnerman
03. Phil Collins | Colours
04. The Rolling Stones | You Can’t Always Get What You Want
05. New Order | Blue Monday
06. Rainbirds | Sea of Time Part 1 – Rocking Song – Part 2 Time – Part 3 CA
07. Dire Straits | Tunnel of Love
08. Led Zeppelin | Stairway To Heaven
09. The Doors | When The Music’s Over

Groove Jet / cd|17

July 24, 2007 - Leave a Response

Since I was young I used to listen to rock music. Yes I was listening to other genres as well but rock was always my thing. Classic, hard, metal, alternative, post, rock ‘n’ roll, surf, acoustic, you name it. Growing in Greece however was inevitable for me not to club at nights. Dancing with friends and strangers is all you do in the summer in Greece. But in order to dance in a club you need dance music. Music with a beat…

A typical night starts at the bar for a beer or a cocktail and continues to the after hours clubs. People are dressed up enjoying the groove, slow moving in the beginning and then dancing their hearts out on the dance floor. When I really started to hang out to bars and clubs it was something more than ten years ago. First in high school and then at the university. Those ten plus years I grooved and danced with a lot of songs. Here is a compilation of those I liked best… A tribute to those summer nights out dancing till dawn, occasionally drunk.

01. Spiller feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor | Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)
02. Billie Ray Martin | Your Loving Arms
03. Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson | Movin’ Too Fast
04. Jennifer Paige | Crush
05. Roger Sanchez | Another Chance
06. Sonique | It Feels So Good
07. Everything But The Girl | Missing
08. Shapeshifters | Lolas Theme
09. Moloko feat. Roisin Murphy | Sing It Back
10. Daft Punk | One More Time
11. Sash! feat. Tina Cousins | Mysterious Times
12. No Mercy | Where Do You Go
13. Iio | Rapture
14. Chicane feat. Bryan Adams | Don’t Give Up
15. Wamdue Project | King of My Castle
16. Room 5 feat. Oliver Cheatham | Make Luv
17. ATB | 9pm Till I Come
18. Adamski | Killer (2000 mix by ATB)
19. Enrique Iglesias feat. Kelis | Not In Love
20. 3-11 Porter | Surround Me with Your Love (Mental Overdrive Remix)

Lady Was Singing The Blues / cd|16

There are some great voices from the past that accompany us till today. Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington are some of the greatest female voices ever. Voices that you hear once and either you love instantly or never really appreciate for the rest of your life. I’ve heard this compilation many times before I post it. Each time I heard it, the same question was kept bothering me: “Are there any new female artists that can get any close to those legends nowadays?” I’m sorry but you’ll have to wait a couple of days for the answer… Be patient.

Meanwhile enjoy this one…

01. Nina Simone | Feeling Good
02. Billie Holiday | Summertime
03. Edith Piaf | La Vie En Rose
04. Shirley Bassey | Diamonds Are Forever
05. Peggy Lee | Fever

It’s only a couple of years since I started my first blog. High Fidelity Show. It was on Blogger at that point. After I experienced a couple of problems I moved to From the very beginning my blog was music oriented. I actually started it because of a show I had at a student radio station at that time, and I wanted to upload my tracklist. How more musical can it get? A lot of things changed since then including me. Not however my passion for making mix CDs, compilations.

A few weeks ago I came up with the idea to register another blog except the High Fidelity Show, a photoblog. Absolutely dedicated to photographs I took myself. On the same motive is this site. Created to host my compilations. And since it’s summer what better way to start this blog than a new compilation. Cold War Kids | Hang Me Up To Dry

March 6, 2007 - Leave a Response

Even if I don’t really like American artists in general there are some surprising exceptions like The Killers and… Cold War Kids. Cold War Kids is a band that was formed couple years ago. They come from California and their debut album is quite cool. Today I saw the video clip of “Hang Me Up To Dry” and I really liked it. Here it is…
